Introduction to Machine Learning

Hey there!

This is an introductory blog on Machine Learning. I am sure most of you must have heard this term on any social media platform or through your technical community, but have you got curious enough to try it out yourself?

If yes, that's great! Comment down your GitHub repo links or any learnings/findings. I am curious to check them out

If no, that's great. You are about to get a good & informatory start. So, let's start with the basics, shall we?

What is Machine Learning?

Machine learning is a method of data analysis that automates analytical model building. It is a branch of artificial intelligence based on the idea that systems can learn from data, identify patterns and make decisions with minimal human intervention.

Evolution of Machine Learning

As it requires analyzing a vast set of data and learn by itself, it is a necessity to have a large computational power. So, in the past, it was quite a time taking a job to implement and test out complex models for machine learning due to the lack of high-powered computers/machines.

While many machine learning algorithms have been around for a long time, the ability to automatically apply complex mathematical calculations to big data โ€“ over and over, faster and faster โ€“ is a recent development.

You might be familiar with some of its applications:

  • Self-driving cars by Google

  • Online recommendations by some popular websites like Netflix, Amazon, etc

  • Fraud / Spam Detection

  • Sentiment Analysis

  • Text Summarization

and lots more...

Personal Encounter

Personally, I am getting my hands dirty with some of these applications of Machine Learning i.e. Natural Langauge Processing & Generating Meaningful Insights. Starting off with some open-source models to achieve the end goal, then tending towards the creation of custom models solving a particular use case.

Stay Tuned. Thanks!
